Our Kentucky whiskey barrels are crafted from 1 inch thick American white oak Dimensions: 53 gallon, 36'' tall, 21'' dia. at the top and bottom, and 24'' dia. in the middle. New barrels weigh about 110 lbs, used barrels weigh approximately 125 lbs. Barrels are held together by 6 double riveted steel hoops. They can be used for other things like, display, storage, or trash receptacles. The wood will shrink a bit as it dries out. You will want to secure the hoops with screws to keep them from falling off as the barrel dries out. We can do this for you. We put two screws in each of the hoops to keep them in place.
